I'd like to think I'm more of a traveler than I really am. Some folks are perfectly content to stay home, never to venture further than the state line. Some love to travel but can't wait to get back to the comforts of their own home... a.k.a... civilization. I can't lie, I've had those same feelings of missing home, but given the choice, and FUNDS, I'd prefer to live on the road. .....Well, at least at this stage of my life. I can see myself at the threshold of my advanced or final leg of my "golden years", settled in and having no interest in galavanting about the country, saying to others what I'm hearing from my elders now..."We used to travel all the time with our kids.". My husband and I plan on continuing long after our kids are grown. On the road is where we plan on spending the beginning of our retirement. Needless to say... I'm stoked.
Most of my friends know at this point that we are planning a "Wild West/National Parks"trip next year. We'll be taking a small camper because that's how the Young family rolls! To me, this is HUUUGE! I've purchased books, organized an.... well... an organizer, mapped the entire venture (estimated 4 weeks!), bought a "grown up" camera (it cost more than what I should've spent, but there was no buyers remorse, so I have no guilt!), and I've researched, researched, researched. Actually I'm still in the research stage. So many places to go, so many sites to see, so many hidden secrets to find! By secrets, I mean off-the-beaten-path things. Things that only locals know about.
I'm planning on blogging and posting pics during the trip. Wifi availability permitting, of course. If you've been out West and would like to share your tips about your trip, whether it's about the National Parks, other sites along the way, or extended length camping in general, I would truly appreciate it! :D Until then, I shall post some pics similar to the ones I hope to be taking myself! Oh how I wish we could leave RIGHT NOW!!
